PRESIDENT BECKY NGATIA

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

JUNE 2025

Dear Rotarians & Friends of Rotary,

More Hands on Deck

As we begin this Rotary year, I am filled with enthusiasm and purpose. This year kicked off with great energy, highlighted by our VTT project on waste management in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Pudu in Malaysia. Additionally, we have received a generous donation from Oxford through the Rotary Club of Karen, amounting to 1,200 for two institutions in our community: the ICRC and CEDC.

I resonate deeply with this year’s theme, United for Good as it captures what our club needs right now. Let’s reach out to find like-minded individuals and expand our membership; the more we are, the more we can accomplish together.

Goals for the Rotary Year 2025/26

1. Ilgwesi Community Resource Centre :
Our primary focus will be the successful completion of this essential project. We aim for a smooth transition to the community while equipping it with relevant books and resources that encourage learning and growth at the centre and its supported satellite libraries. Currently, we have seven satellite libraries, and we are excited to expand to eight soon.

2. Membership Drive Initiative :
We will implement a structured membership drive with the goal of enrolling at least 15 new members during my presidency. This year, we intend to be more interactive by organizing engaging and fun events, including a book drive in September, tree planting activities throughout the year, a thrilling motor maze in October, and our Charity Golf Tournament in April. These events will showcase the benefits of joining Rotary, with a focus on fellowship, service, and professional development.

3. Achieve Prepaid Club Status:
We aim to establish the Rotary Club of Nanyuki as a prepaid club by promoting a culture of timely dues payment and financial planning among our members. It is crucial to develop clear communication regarding the advantages of this status, fostering commitment and responsibility among club members.

4. Cultivate an All-Giving Culture:
We want to encourage every member to contribute to club initiatives and the Rotary Foundation. By creating engaging fundraising events and promoting the significance of contributions, we aim to ensure that every member feels valued in their support of our endeavors.

5. Establish Interact Clubs in Schools :
Our goal is to plant at least 10,000 trees in schools around Laikipia, ensuring each student contributes to the planting of four trees. Each participating school will establish Interact Clubs focused on this tree project, empowering students with leadership skills and community service opportunities while fostering a connection to environmental stewardship.

6. Develop a 3-Year Strategic Plan:
We will create a comprehensive 3-year strategic plan for the Rotary Club of Nanyuki, outlining our guiding objectives, initiatives, and measurable outcomes. It is essential to involve club members in this planning process to enhance engagement and establish clear benchmarks for success over the coming years.

Together, as we unite our efforts, we can achieve great things this year and beyond. Let’s roll up our sleeves and make a difference!

Yours in service,
President Becky Ngatia
