October 18, 2025, the Rotary Club of Nanyuki will host their Fifth annual Motor Maze in Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The proceeds from this charity event will go toward funding for the renovation of a classroom at Mirera Primary School in Laikipia.
For four successful years, Motor Maze has brought together driving enthusiasts, families, and community members for a day of exciting competition and camaraderie, all while making a tangible difference in the lives of local children. This year, with the generous support of Ol Pejeta Conservancy as our main sponsor, we are aiming to make an even greater impact
How does Motor Maze work?
Motor maze is a charity event with lots of entertaining, and educational activity. This year, the 3rd edition which is dabbed as the WILD EDITION will take place inside Olpejeta Conservancy in Laikipia county Kenya. We are targeting 50 vehicles with a passenger restriction of four per team. Motor maze is neither a rally nor a race. Any vehicle will suffice. Each team must come up with a name and put on a team outfit. Teams should include a driver, a navigator (download a compass app for your phone), and two “look-outs” who will assist in the discovery of various things and the search for clues.
To finish the task, participants MUST follow a specific and detailed course while searching for items, tips, and questions included in a booklet. Participants will be given two routes at random. Each vehicle MUST attend at each check point to ensure that the rules and procedures are followed and for their team’s handbook to be stamped. There will be several checkpoints along the course that will be monitored by both sponsors and Rotarians. Following the last checkpoint, there will be a celebration; the location soon to be disclosed. The celebration site will have a dance, auctions, and participation rewards. Non-participants will also be able to attend for a fee, which may be paid online or in person.
The handbook will include enigmatic suggestions about the journey. Participants may be compelled to write the solution in the booklet when they arrive at various spots, or they may be required to step out of the vehicle so that someone can inform them what evidence is required to confirm that they were there. This proof will be validated by checkpoints. In addition, teams will be required to locate a number of things, which will be examined at checkpoints and utilized to determine awards and tiebreakers during the celebration. The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the equator inside the conservancy. There will be brief verification measures in place to ensure that all attendees have registered. The questions and clues will challenge participants on matters such as local knowledge, touristic interests, general information, and teach them about conservation.
